The New Mexico Clash Soccer Academy
Our soccer Academy is the first stage of our research-based approach to soccer development for children 4 to 7 years old. It consists of a series of sessions during which we emphasize the development of basic athletic and soccer skills. The sessions take place twice a week on Mondays and Wednesday. Each time the children meet, they are exposed to the three tiers of our practice training program.
In the first tier, players participate in tag games-with and without the ball-that encourage and foment the development of speed and agility. The second stage consists of activities that stimulate the improvement of the player’s coordination and ball handling skills. Lastly, the players get to play soccer and put into immediate practice the skills that they are starting to develop.
The main focus of our Academy’s coaching staff is to make sure all activities are age-appropriate, and that they can assists individual children in their efforts to perform them. To assist us in this goal, we encourage parents to help us break down those activities their children may be having difficulties with. This ensures that kids always experience success, which is the main ingredient in developing the intrinsic motivation to play the game.
