  • At what age can my child begin playing soccer?
Youth soccer in New Mexico begins at U5. These teams are composed of players who have not yet reached their fifth birthday by August 1 of the current seasonal year.
  • When is registration?
Registration is typically open between June and August of each year and various registration events are held during this period. Please check our calendar and homepage for exact dates, which will be posted as these times approach. You may also call the Registrar at 505-907-2552 for more specific information.
  • How much will it cost?
The New Mexico Clash Soccer Club is committed to making soccer affordable for everyone. For recreational soccer teams, the registration fees and additional out-of-pocket expenses, such as uniform fees, are kept minimal and scholarships are available in exchange for volunteer work. Players who desire to register for competitive teams can expect to pay substantially higher fees for registration, uniforms, tournaments and travel, but our fees are still among the lowest in the state. Please contact the registrar at 505-907-2552 for current registration fees.
  • What can I do to help?
Volunteers are always needed to assist with all of the details of keeping youth soccer fun and affordable for everyone. Fields need to be painted every couple of weeks. Goal nets need to be hung and collected at the beginning and end of each day of games. During tournaments, we need field marshalls, concession vendors and administrative help. Our recreational coaches are all volunteers, as well as the referees in the middle of the field.

  • How do I learn to be a referee?
Referee training clinics are held in the fall and spring of each year. These clinics are typically held for 8 hours on a Saturday before the start of the regular season. Please visit the New Mexico Soccer Referee Association website for exact dates.
  • So, I got my certification and badge, now what?
Of course, attending a one-day clinic to earn your certification will not turn you into the next World Cup center. The Tri-State Referee Association holds monthly meetings on the last Wednesday of each month in the Paradise Hills area. At these meetings, various topics are covered by experienced referees and usually include player, coach and spectator management skills, real game scenarios, and other pointers to help you learn. You can also talk to other referees before and after your own games. Refereeing is a continual learning process.
  • How do I sign up for a game?
To sign up for a match in Northwest Rio Grande Soccer League, visit the referee area of their website. For Duke City Soccer League, you must submit a referee availability form to their referee scheduler who will assign you to matches.
